AnnotationFew studies have examined the patterns and predictors of health and social service utilisation among the older minority and immigrant populations in the United States (US). This study compared the level of awareness and utilisation of 15 community-based long-term care services by 213 older Korean and 201 non-Hispanic white Americans. Results revealed extremely low levels of awareness and utilisation of long-term health and social services among Korean Americans, in both absolute and relative terms. These findings challenge the success of the Older Americans Act, an important funding source for those services, in meeting its stated objectives to increase service availability and delivery to minority group older people and socioeconomically disadvantaged older people. Strategies for effective outreach and public education efforts are also discussed. (AKM).
