AnnotationThis report is the third in a series of publications by the Employers Forum on Age (EFA), in which advice and guidance is presented on a range of issues concerning the relationship between `Age, employment and business'. The recommendations and guidance contained were assembled following two workshops held in September 1997 hosted by Unigate plc. The report looks at trends in retirement and concerns about present retirement practice. The various forms of flexible retirement and how they could be better promoted are discussed. Retirement in its wider context is reviewed, and how this fits into best employment practice. The sort of pensions policy needed for a successful modernisation of retirement is considered. Recommendations to Government and employers are summarised. (RH).
