Annotation | Ongoing efforts to establish a new gerontology educational course on a recently created university campus in the US are described. The authors rely on institutional documents and their personal experiences for the observations on which this case study is based. Over a 10-year period, the original course has gone through different phases of development, characterised by changes in leadership, activities, and organisational issues. Extensive work by faculty members has kept the initiative viable; however, the lack of decision-making authority has hampered their efforts towards programme development. Involvement of community leaders, academic staff and administrators is discussed. (RH). |
