AnnotationMEGA (Multidisciplinary Education of Geriatrics and Aging), a computer assisted, multidisciplinary educational tool aimed at health professional students has been developed by the University of Maryland in collaboration with the Baltimore VA Medical Center. It covers the following areas: assessment, case management, ethics and law, normal ageing, health policy, health promotion, mental health, nutrition, oral health, pharmacogeriatrics, rehabilitation, and sensory impairments. Academic staff devised a text, formatted to include tables, pictures, videos and animation using commercially available software. Results of evaluations indicated that most of the students preferred the computerised module to using a written text. Revision of the program to make it more interactive and flexible, with a wider array of improved video demonstrations, was expected to be completed by spring, 1997. (RH).
