AnnotationMicroteaching is a technique for improving teaching skills which involves videotaping teaching behaviours in an actual or simulated teaching situation for later review. This article describes microteaching as an approach in the acquisition of health teaching skills by health care practitioners working with older people. Principles of adult learning are delineated, age-related sensory changes influencing the learning process are reviewed, and selected teaching skills are described. Older adult learner objectives, appropriate for use by health care professionals in the classroom and in clinical settings are discussed. (RH).
