Annotation22 physiotherapy and occupational therapy students in the US enrolled in a course, `Health Promotion and Aging'. After classroom preparation during the first half of the term, the students applied their knowledge of exercise, nutrition and stress management at a centre with 42 sedentary and/or obese older adults in the second half of the term. Compared to those who did not enrol in the course, participants increased their knowledge of geriatrics, improved their attitude toward the effectiveness of health promotion techniques in changing older people's health behaviours, and increased the probability of applying health promotion knowledge and skills in future practice. The students made recommendations for improving the course, which have been subsequently implemented. (RH).
