Annotation | Building Community Through Arts (BCA) was invited by the Central and Cecil Housing Trust (CCHT) to design a project which examined in depth the provision of creative activities for people with dementia and to provide residential care staff training and support. Activity workshops with residents, staff and volunteers took place at Homemead, a CCHT residential care home in Teddington. The workshops aimed to evoke memories using words, clay, colour and the five senses. This report describes and evaluates the project, focusing on the views of residents and staff. Resident benefits of creative activities were cited to be mood enhancement, interaction with staff and other residents, and positive intellectual and physical effects. (AKM). |
