AnnotationThis paper explores some of the ways in which the age of individuals may be a factor in their receipt of local authority community care services, and disability- or care-related funding. During 1998-99, Age Concern England (ACE) plans to undertake research to further explore issues of age discrimination within social services. Some information which is already known is included in this paper on access to: specialist client groups; residential and nursing home care; and domiciliary and day care. Three other areas where age materially affects receipt of community services or funding are outlined: disability living allowance (DLA); Independent Living (1993) Fund (ILF); and direct payments.
