Annotation | This item was also published as Briefings, ref: 2598. Age Concern England (ACE) concentrates on areas identified by the House of Commons Health Select Committee which might secure better care and health for older people and support for their families. It points to: anomalies between agency responsibilities in obtaining access to services; the need for better organisational structures, including use of `key workers'; incentives for joint working, with pooled budgets; organisational and funding systems and processes for planning, commissioning and service delivery; training requirements and professional roles; relative cost-effectiveness of services and the movement of money between sectors; recruitment and retention of staff; and the need to remove barriers which discourage use of particular services. ACE calls on the Government to ensure sufficient funding for local and health authorities to meet needs in relation to changing levels of dependency. (RH). |
