Annotation | Although there has been considerable increase in life expectancy in Brazil, there is no course on geriatrics in the basic curriculum of medical schools. This article examines the role of universities and the the Institute of Gerontology of the Candido Mendes University. It also outlines Brazil's National Policy for the Elderly Act 1994, which stipulates the need for appropriate training. (RH). |
