Annotation | Speakers and workshops at this conference demonstrated the growing interest in using evidence to improve practice in community-based care for older people. Evidence in the form of systematic reviews, observational methods, and surveys is a useful way of sharing knowledge among a professionally scattered community. An underlying thread appeared to be that evidence-based practice may be a catalyst between disciplines to help understand health and evaluate care in community settings which are under pressure to provide effective services. However, assessing older people's needs must be based firmly on adequate, systematic and inclusive evidence. (RH). |
