Annotation	The meaning and experience of the female body for older women, mainly Jewish, is explored in this ethnographic study of a beauty salon in a mid-western town in the United States (US). Drawing on the findings from eighteen months fieldwork, the author examines the women's perceptions of and attitudes toward the ageing body and feminine beauty; women in relation to work, caring and the family; and images of and attitudes towards older women.
