AnnotationResearch shows that mental illness and cognitive impairment may be risk factors for elder abuse. This US study highlights the need for coordination between mental health and adult protective services. A model of coordination in the field of ageing developed by the Benjamin Rose Institute and the Cuyahoga County Department of Senior and Adult Services in Cleveland, Ohio, is used to illustrate the benefits, challenges, and problems of service coordination.
