AnnotationThis paper examines the validity and reliability of the Dysfunctional Behaviour Rating Instrument (DBRI), designed for completion by caregivers of individuals with dementia residing in the community. Randomly selected carers completed the instruments and scores were compared to scores on measures of activities of daily living (ADL), cognition and caregiver burden. The DBRI correlated weakly with cognition but moderately with burden and ADL. The authors concluded the DBRI to be both valid and reliable for use with an Australian population. (AKM).
