Annotation | The impact of age and other predictors (gender, health status, education) on activity participation among older people was examined in this study. A stratified probability sample of 601 subjects was surveyed with in-depth structured interviews. Data on the frequency of involvement in four types of activity and on potential predictor variables were analysed. A major finding is that old age as such cannot explain lower involvement in any of the four types of activity under study. A canonical correlation analysis confirms previous research findings indicating that health status and education are the primary impediment to leisure participation among older adults. (AKM). |
