AnnotationNutritional and social well-being are important factors in health and independence of older people. T J Bunck and B A Iwata in their 1978 research, "Increasing senior center participation in a community-based nutritious meals program" (Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, vol 11), effectively increased attendance at a nutrition site serving older people, using a combination of prompting and reinforcement procedures. The present study provides a systematic replication of their intervention procedures at two senior meal sites. Findings from this study, however, resulted in no increase in attendance. Further applied research is still needed to identify effective methods for increasing attendance at community-based nutrition and health promotion programmes. (RH).
