AnnotationThe Continence Foundation presents its preliminary views on key aspects of the review: it should cover all services relating to faecal and urinary incontinence, including enuresis, and related bladder and bowel problems. Moreover, patients should be directly consulted. In defining standards of service, a National Service Framework and local programmes of care are required, as outlined in general terms in the White Paper on the NHS. The organisational relationship between primary, secondary and tertiary care within the NHS and the relationship of the continence nurse specialist to the Primary Care Group needs to be considered. Other points covered include: commissioning of continence services in the new NHS; budgets; audit; performance indicators; education and training; public awareness; and the role of the voluntary sector.
