AnnotationThe Race Relations Act 1976 makes discrimination on racial grounds unlawful, but does not include religion. Test cases brought under the Act have established that, in certain circumstances, Jews and Sikhs are considered to be racial groups defined by the Act. Four examples are given of cases where individuals have suffered religious discrimination have been able to prove that such discrimination constituted unlawful indirect discrimination under the terms of the Act.
