AnnotationThe authors report on a study carried out for the Abbeyfield Society, published with the title "Maintaining independence and involvement: older people speaking" (1997). Using information from interviews with 146 older people in England and Wales, the study explored attitudes to independence among very old people living in different types of accommodation, including sheltered housing and residential care homes.
