AnnotationThis research was funded by HomePoint, a housing information and advice network set up by Scottish Homes; and Progressive Partnership Ltd carried out face to face interviews with a sample of older people throughout Scotland. The report aims to give a user perspective, identifying where older people turn to for housing information and advice; and it looks at the networks used by existing agencies in meeting needs. Specific housing problems were investigated: repairs/adaptations; heating problems; moving house; neighbours; finance; and landlords. Many older people do not actively seek housing information and advice from recognised sources. The report recommends alternative ways of providing information, such as at Post Offices and GP surgeries; and that local authority departments should recognise their significance as information sources.
