AnnotationCanada's Senior Independence Research Program (SIRP) has set up a competition awarding grants to establish up to eleven programmes of applied research on health, social and economic issues related to older people's independence in four theme areas: financial income and fiscal issues; evaluation and comparison of programmes, systems, models of care and activities designed to support older people's independence; use of medication by older people; and mutual aid or self-help, and self care. Information is given on the successful programmes. (RH).
