AnnotationThe Seniors Independence Research Program (SIRP) was established in 1988 as part of the Health and Welfare Canada's Seniors' Initiative. It aims to stimulate and support research on the health and social issues related to Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis, and other disabilities which affect the independence of older people. The aim of this advice document to Health Canada is to suggest how a well planned research agenda can contribute to improving the well-being and independence of older Canadians now and in the future. It urges Health Canada to give ageing a prominent place in the nation's research and development agenda. (AKM).
