Annotation | This report presents findings of research carried out with Anchor Trust residents living in Anchor Homes, the aim of which was to assess their satisfaction with services received. The research also sought to assess relatives' satisfaction with residential care and their involvement in the life of the home. Views of purchasers and providers on what constitutes a`good home' were also sought. The report examines policy issues concerned with residential care in the 1990s, reviews quality standards, and describes Anchor's residential care provision. It reports on the findings of 53 resident interviews and 24 interviews with relatives on moving to residential care. Research findings are also presented on everyday life in a home. Care delivery practices are examined from the perspectives of residents, relatives, staff and purchasers, with reference to: assessment; care planning; the key worker system; and care reviews. The report discusses wider policy issues: the impact of increasing levels of dependency; the role of relatives; quality of life; mixed communities of public and private clients; and choice and empowerment.
