Annotation | This Green Paper sets out proposed priorities for health in Scotland, by tackling deprivation, and encouraging people to adopt healthier lifestyles by not smoking, by eating for health, taking more physical exercise, and avoiding alcohol and drug misuse. `Illness' priorities are coronary heart disease, stroke, cancer, mental health, sexual health, dental and oral health, and accidents. The Green Paper's main proposals (on which comments were invited by 30 April 1998) are: health impact assessments to consider the consequences for health of all major policies; an expert working group, chaired by the Minister of Health, to draw up a strategic framework for strengthening and regenerating communities, particularly disadvantaged ones; and broad programmes for area regeneration where health is poorest.
