AnnotationThe "Patients' agenda" sets out a series of rights not included in the NHS Patient's Charter. Drawn up in consultation with community health councils and patients' organisations, it highlights those areas where patients find their present rights are poor or non-existent, and where their reasonable expectations are not met. These are discussed in terms of: access to care and treatment; health care regardless of the ability to pay; choice and information; advocacy, support and appropriate care; good quality care in matters of life and death; confidentiality and control over personal information; and redress when rights are not met.
