Annotation | Over half a million older people currently live in long-term residential or nursing home care in the UK. These findings report on a qualitative study by Fay Wright of the Age Concern Institute of Gerontology (ACIOG), King's College, London, which examines the consequences for adult children and spouses following an older person's admission to a care home. It focuses on how and why a care home was chosen, any financial consequences for family members, and their involvement in care-giving activities in a residential setting. The project was funded and the main report subsequently published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) as `Continuing to care: the effect on spouses and children of an older person's admission to a care home'.
