AnnotationThis review highlights a few of the main findings in `The health of adult Britain, 1841-1994', a report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) edited by John Charlton and Mike Murphy, which charts the changes in health of the British population aged 15 and over. Trends in causes of mortality, infectious diseases, and cardiovascular diseases are summarised. Factors influencing health led the editors to conclude that while there are signs of improved health (e.g. greater life expectancy), there are also indications of worsening health (e.g. certain cancers), or that things have stayed much the same (e.g. risk factors for heart disease).
