AnnotationThe Nutrition Programs for the Elderly, established and funded through the Older Americans Act in 1972 are reviewed from both a historical and current perspective. Participant characteristics, participation/meal levels, funding and programme operational changes are noted. Topics covered include increasing competition, data collection changes, customer sensitivity, service expansion, new technologies, and the relationship of Nutrition Programs to managed care, are discussed together with some implications for the future.
