Annotation | There is little recent empirical evidence that defines the victimisation of older people due to crime and violence, and the effect on lifestyle. The study was designed to develop research questions for face-to-face, semi-structured interviews. Four subjects, aged from 60 to 92 - an African-American woman, a Jamaican-American man, an Hispanic woman, and a White woman - were recruited and informed consent obtained. Three of the four of these participants interviewed had been victims of crime. Themes examined are the experience of being a victim of violence or crime, the fear of violence and crime, continued victimisation, and impact on lifestyle. (RH). |
