Annotation | Visual neglect following a brain injury resulting from stroke, head trauma, or brain tumour can affect many activities of daily living (ADL) tasks, leisure activities and communication skills. This case study examined the effects of visual scanning training using First Mate, a perception skill builder software programme with three patients with right-brain damage following stroke. It focused on on the possibility of the near transfer effects of visual scanning training. Study results showed some treatment effect after four weeks. Further large scale group studies comparing the effects of computerised visual scanning with those of traditional table top activities are needed. (AKM). |
