AnnotationThis study provides information on the needs and barriers to mental health services among African-American and Hispanic older people, and is based on data provided by key informants rather than the older people and/or their families. Principal component analysis was conducted on a 23 item barrier scale, and identified levels of service barriers for the entire sample and for each sub-sample. Based on the study's findings, a number of strategies are offered to improve utilisation and overcome service delivery barriers. (RH).
