Annotation | Changes in government policy have affected the provision and delivery of care to people in need. Residential and nursing homes have experienced pressures of increased dependency of residents, lack of skills of carers, and increased demands for community nursing service and general practitioners' (GPs) time. The author reports on her specialist post in residential and nursing homes in Merton and Sutton, working with primary care teams, initially on a pilot area with non-fundholding GPs working with residential and nursing home staff. Training was identified as a priority: the author sees her role as an enabler and educator. |
