AnnotationMRSA (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is a bacterium that has become resistant to a wide range of antibiotics, including Methicillin. Despite attempts to resist its spread, the point has probably been reached where the organism is becoming endemic in many healthcare settings in the UK. Although MRSA affects people of all ages, it is known to affect older people significantly. This article examines the problem of MRSA, and makes recommendations for the care of the affected individual. (RH).
