AnnotationThis paper reports on a piece of research commissioned by the Wolverhampton Metropolitan Borough to evaluate the effectiveness of its community care services, focusing on users' perceptions of the assessment visit. A sample of older people, and adults with mental health needs, mild learning disabilities and physical disabilities, and their carers, were interviewed about their views on information received about the assessment process, the complaints procedure, involvement and choice, and overall satisfaction with the assessment visit. On the whole, both users and carers were satisfied with the assessment visits. However, some people felt that they had not had enough information about the process, and did not clearly understand the complaints procedure.
