Annotation | The nature of love, attraction and sexuality in the third age is examined, along with their treatment in literature, the media and in popular culture. The objections to older people forming new love relationships late in life are questioned. Four cases of well known people who formed new relationships in their later years are described: Bertrand Russell, Charlie Chaplin, George Eliot, and Colette. The general question of love in later life as it concerns couples in long-standing marital relationships are considered. Part 2 of this book comprises autobiographical accounts of new relationships formed when one or both partners were over the age of sixty, including examples of homosexual and lesbian relationships.
