Annotation | Problems of institutional failings in the US stemming from institutional design, institutional performance, and institutional adaptation are examined. One paper seeks to establish whether there is an association between health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and health maintenance behaviour. The authors find no association between HMO membership and primary preventive behaviours such as healthy eating, exercise and giving up smoking. However, HMO members are more likely to get health check-ups. Results are discussed in terms of health policy. (RH). |
