AnnotationFamily day care has been tested as a new service model for older people (including those with dementia) in an experimental project called VARPU (1994-1996), carried out by STAKES (Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health) and the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in collaboration with 19 municipalities (states) in Finland. This article reports on this form of day care, which takes place in the care worker's own home, and the benefits of activities such as intergenerational interaction.
