Annotation | Canada is currently witnessing a shift to community care and greater reliance on family caregiving. In this article, the author looks at Canadian trends in care responsibility, including those involving the "sandwich generation" of adult children who care for their ageing parents. Other trends discussed include: older people's living arrangements; the sharp rise in divorce and single-parenthood; combining work and family responsibilities, and how this affects eldercare; and changes in health policy and long-term care, for which Ontario is used as an illustrative example.
