Annotation | In the past, Australian society has not valued its older people highly, and negative images of dependency have prevailed. In his role as Minister for Seniors in Western Australia's state government, the speaker is responsible for implementing a positive ageing agenda. His paper gives a profile of Western Australian seniors, and outlines initiatives and programmes that aim to promote older people's independence, and encourage them to live active and fulfilling lives.
