AnnotationThis Act consolidates certain enactments relating to rights of employees arising out of their employment. Part I sets out the particulars of terms of employment. Part II describes the rights arising in the course of employment, including guarantee payments, suspension from work on medical grounds and trade union membership and activities. Part III makes provisions for the rights of employees in connection with pregnancy and confinement. Part IV and V covers termination of employment and unfair dismissal. Part VI sets out the right to redundancy payments. Parts VII and VIII covers insolvency of employers and resolution of disputes relating to employment, including industrial tribunals. This Act was reprinted in 1996.
