Annotation | This policy statement focuses primarily on the needs of individual people in rural areas. Whilst more jobs and services should be provided locally, it is unlikely that a full range of services can be made available in this way. Consequently, rural people are always likely have to travel further than townspeople. The effects on women, older people, and access to health provision are highlighted. Local authorities and commercial operators should give practical consideration to making public transport services more attractive, convenient and accessible. |
