AnnotationFive discussion groups were held with older people to discover their views on the health services in Greenwich. A total of 42 people from various residential settings participated. A `wish list' for the health service was generated by the groups, with the following given priority: better hospital discharge arrangements, better response by general practitioners to home visit requests, shorter waits for treatments, more resources for the National Health Service (NHS). The fears of older people in Greenwich about health care included the fear of being denied care due to old age, lack of sufficient respite care, and fear of losing privacy, dignity and respect. Other topics discussed included major health service needs, information and communication, and particular issues for minority ethnic groups. (AKM).
