AnnotationThese guidelines are a revision of the guidelines agreed by the Association of London Directors of Social Services and commended by the London Boroughs Association (LBA) and the Association of London Authorities (ALA) as a basis for the registration of residential care homes throughout London. The Revision Group was drawn from local authorities, the private sector, the 'not for profit' sector and other interested groups. The document's purpose is to specify the standards of care and facilities which individual local authorities will expect when carrying out their registration responsibilities. It outlines the Registered Homes Act 1984, the process of application, physical standards, policies and records, staffing, care standards, health, dual registration, information as to offences under the Act, and registration of small homes. The appendices, which are advisory, cover matters concerning food hygiene, health and safety, environmental health, person specifications for registered persons, and equal opportunities.
