AnnotationThe relationships between religion and old age are complex, in particular because the concept of age itself has been determined by religious understandings of life throughout history. This progress report looks at sources which associate religious belief and practice with age, examining materials from surveys of practice and opinion, case studies and comparative ethnographies. The second part of the report provides a theoretical perspective of the changing nature of the life course and the place of religion within this.
