AnnotationThis is a report on services for older people provided by Kirklandside, Holmhead and Brooksby Hospitals in Ayrshire. The main concerns focused on are: the unsuitability of the environment for this care group; the absence of a joint planning structure and joint planning processes; and the continued use of a small number of places in each of the day hospitals for those requiring social care. Ayrshire and Arran Health Board have a strategy committed to `shifting the balance of care for vulnerable older people towards responsive care at home', but have already identified constraints. (RH).
