Annotation | The use of antidepressants over time among 1681 community-dwelling older people in a rural area was examined in this longitudinal study. Data were collected four times between 1987 and 1996. Antidepressant use was reported by less than 5% of the population during all four data collection waves. It was associated with female gender, use of mental health services, presence of five or more depressive symptoms, and use of five or more prescription drugs, but not with age. (AKM). |
