Annotation | This chapter reviews the role of education in the lives of older people. In reality, though, education is for childhood and youth, and has little part to play in older age. In effect, there is no organising principle for retirement. While the author has found some examples of good practice to discuss - adult education, and matters concerned with co-operation and citizenship including University of the Third Age (U3A) - he is not overly optimistic. |
