Annotation | The relationship between a demented patient and his or her caregiver is an important aspect of the patient's environment, and the interaction between the two is the basis of their relationship. The purpose of the author's studies has been to examine the communicative behaviour of demented monolingual patients, as described by their caregivers, as well as the communication, interaction, and relationship of demented bilingual Finnish immigrants with Finnish-speaking and non-Finnish-speaking caregivers. This article outlines research methods and theories of earlier Swedish research and studies. (RH). |
