AnnotationBehavioural symptoms are those that diminish quality of life for either the individual with the symptoms or for that individual's care provider. Research concerning the development of behavioural approaches to the treatment and management of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is in its early and formative stage. Probably the most significant problem underlying such research is the lack of consensus on either dementia screening or dementia behavioural/neuropsychological measures. Other barriers mentioned in this short article include: the problem of informed consent; obtaining adequate size samples; and lack of attention to environmental factors. (RH).
