Impediments to research progress in development of behavioral approaches to treatment and care of persons with Alzheimer's disease | Author(s) | Leonard Berg |
Journal title | International Psychogeriatrics, vol 8, supplement 1, 1996 |
Pages | pp 113-114 |
Keywords | Dementia ; Behaviour modification ; Research. |
Annotation | This short article addresses some of the scientific, conceptual, and technical impediments to the timely progress of research on topics relating to Alzheimer's disease (AD) discussed elsewhere in this issue of International Psychogeriatrics. There has been plenty of descriptive research, but very little experimental research has been published. The author identifies problems of: cost of research; the heterogeneity of those with AD, their caregivers, and their physical, sociological and emotional environments; and the need for experienced, innovative behavioural scientists to carry out the research.
